The Boy Scouts of America website has information about the national BSA organization.

Circle Ten Council has information about the Scoutfitter store, an online version of the Circler magazine and the Council calendar in addition to online training opportunties .

The official site for North District has information about our meeting and other matters, including the District calendar.

Safety Afloat and Safe Swim Defense are adult training opportunities to prevent aquatic accidents. These course may be taken in classes when offered or online.

Rank Advancement and Merit Badges:

Official requirements for all scouting ranks, including Eagle Palms can be found at US Scouting Service Project. 

Information about merit badges can be found at the Merit Badge Research Center with specific requirements and links to related information. 

General Scouting Information:

Scouting Magazine also has an online publication with lots of interesting stories and much useful information about scouting activities.

The MacScouter is a general resource website with information on all aspects of scouting.  It serves scouts as well as the various roles by the adults. 

And don’t miss the U.S. Scouting Service Project that has many links to other scouting materials in addition to providing lots of information itself.

Camping equipment can be found online but many times you may want to just look at some of the neat stuff to get ideas.  Try the following links to commercial sites, many with local stores where you can hold and feel.  Some local stores include REI, Bass Pro Outdoor World, Backwoods, Mountain Hideout, Oshmans and Academy Sports.


You might want to start with the Houston Troop 198 cookbook that has a good dash of humor as well as some practical advice.  Some patrols may want to print and keep in their chuck boxes. Note: you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to open and download the cookbook (see our homepage).

The Online Cooking merit badge not only lists requirements but have some neat links to related websites.

The Macscouter web site also has good cooking information including links to recipes and other cookbooks. The site can be pretty overwhelming so set some time aside to browse.

There are many more sites out there but these will get you started.  If you run into a website that is particularly good for camp cooking, let the Webmaster know.

Eagle Project Resources:

The National BSA web site explains the process Twelve Steps from Life to Eagle. 

The US Scouts Service Project has an extensive list of resources for obtaining Eagle. 

 An extensive list of over 150 Eagle projects.

 The site has useful information to help Scouts obtain their Eagle rank.

 A detailed Planning Guide for Eagle projects is presented by an Eagle Scout advisor from the Longhorn Council.

Good Turn for America is a national call to service by the Boy Scouts of America that will help provide adequate food and shelter and to develop good health habits in our nation.
